Memorial Day - The Way of Our Fathers and Grandfathers

Don't Give Up America's Ship of State

For Memorial Day, Molten Eagle is pleased to share what readers have popularized by steady readership:

an actual wartime tribute to those brave submariners was announced at the end of the great, wartime film Destination Tokyo (1943).
The Kingston Trio's rendition of Woody Guthrie's The Sinking of the Reuben James ... Guthrie's song about the DD-245, the first U.S. warship sunk by U-boats in World War II.
The name of every sailor who perished is scrolled during this spirited ballad.

Submarines are always silent and strange.
